Yoga Basics is geared toward the beginner, but also suitable for students with more experience looking to further develop basic postures. The class moves at a comfortable pace with detailed instruction on alignment, breathwork, and meditation. When was the last time your heart rate safely peaked? When did it last quietly rest as you deeply relaxed?

 

In Healthy Heart Yoga, your pulse will race during our High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. It will continue beating swiftly and calmly as we flow through various yoga poses. And finally, you'll notice it slow to a deep resting rate as we explore some deep yogic resting postures. All told, your heart and circulatory system will get exactly what they need to keep going strong.

Level I/II

Mats and props are provided.

Yoga I is an 8-week course for the absolute yoga beginner. Yoga veterans are welcome too as pose variations will be offered. Here you'll learn to stretch, strengthen, balance, and relax in twice weekly classes for 1 credit of university academic credit. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11a in the Student Activity Center (SAC) lower level group fitness room.

Calmly observing the natural beauty of the world is one of life’s simple pleasures - especially when done UPSIDE DOWN! In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll get a chance to tap into your inner child who wants to play upside down - all the while deeply nourishing your adult body with the many benefits of yoga’s inversion postures. With the aid of preparatory poses, comfortable props, and a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore Forearm Balance and Headstand in ways both safe and fun. Who knows, with some practice, this summer may find you basking calmly in nature’s beauty - upside down.


Mats and props are provided. Potential students should feel steady in their standing balance postures and be comfortable holding plank and forearm plank for 30 to 45 seconds each. Level 2/3. $20

Un|wine’d - a yoga and wine event at the conservatories

Relax and de-stress at this quarterly event held on Saturday - March 19 on the eve of our Vernal Equinox from 6:00-9:00 pm. This event is held at the amazing Potawatomi Conservatories. Admission is $25. Botanical Society of South Bend members receive a glass of wine with ticket purchase. Admission includes two yoga sessions and savory snacks. Additional glasses of wine available for purchase. Chair massages are available also for a nominal fee. Bring your yoga mat and be sure to wear layered, comfortable clothes.
